At the New York end, date of delivery depends on COI approval, your freight-elevator reservation, and whether the truck can get to the loading dock or service door — things that change the schedule significantly more than mileage for co-ops, condominiums, and high-rises.

Most large buildings in New York won’t allow movers in without a COI, and co-ops and condos may additionally require board approval, an elevator reservation, and certain move-in hours. Luxury co-ops sometimes have greater liability limits and require the building and managing agent to be designated as additional insured. We’ll get that document to your building’s specs before it’s delivered so the move isn’t turned away at the door.

Weather is a transit concern along this route more than a city issue. San Francisco remains temperate, but the I-80 mountain and plains section can bring snow and ice from late fall through early spring. New York winters average around 30 inches of snow a year, with frigid January lows. For electronics, art, and temperature-sensitive goods, we wrap and load with that long transit in mind.

It is advisable to submit a Damage Report before the team leaves, and any damage identified later must be documented within 96 hours.
