About Pasadena, CA

The city of Pasadena is in Los Angeles County. It is at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, 10 miles northeast of Downtown LA. People visit to see famous places like the Rose Bowl, strong cultural institutions, and neighbourhoods with a mix of old houses and crowded flat corridors.

A lot of people in the area like being outside. It is the city's biggest natural open space. For weekend hikes, people love the foothill trails nearby, like Eaton Canyon Natural Area.

It's usually easy to get around, but time is important. Pasadena is easily accessible from major highways in the area, and traffic is heavy during events and rush hour. For up-to-date information on freeway conditions in real time, visit Caltrans Road Conditions for changes and closures.

The city-run Pasadena Transit system, the LA Metro rail/bus connections, and TAP (Transit Access Pass) fare integration are all public transit choices. TAP (Transit Access Pass) is helpful if you're planning errands during move week.

For accurate information on safety in the area, you can look at the Pasadena Police Department's report here: Pasadena PD Crime Statistics.

🏙️ Local tools that can be useful include the City of Pasadena (services and contacts), Pasadena Water and Power (utilities), and Pasadena's moving and parking advice if you need to reserve curb space: Moving Vehicle Parking Permit Application (PDF).

The Process of Moving to Pasadena, CA

Moving with Move and Care is easy and planned out. We divide it into three parts: getting ready, moving day, and after the delivery.

1. Preparation

Once you accept the price and book the move, we'll confirm the date, time, and any special handling needs. The next steps will depend on your position and whether you're packing yourself or hiring us to do it all for you.

Use our packing guide to stay organised and avoid chaos at the last minute if you are packing on your own (either all by yourself or some of the time).

Tip: Tip: Good packing is even more important for long-distance moves. You can't skip protecting and labelling your things if you want a smooth delivery. They may be going through different weather zones and road conditions.

One of the most regular "gotchas" in Pasadena is parking and getting to the curb. You might need to reserve a spot or follow city rules for the public right-of-way if your street is narrow or your car is big. The city of Pasadena has official information about moving cars and temporary no-parking signs. You can find it here: City of Pasadena Moving Vehicle Permit (PDF) and here: Parking Permit / Temporary No Parking Signs.

If you haven't booked a spot ahead of time, we'll still try to set up the truck as close to you as we can. Keep this in mind: looking more, parking again, or carrying things farther can take more time and cost more money.

Stay organised with our moving checklist and don't forget the basics box like everyone else does.

2. Move

Our team shows up on time on moving day, sets up a safe place to load, and starts carefully loading. We protect the furniture, take things apart and put them back together as needed, and load everything for transport while keeping it stable and avoiding damage.

❗Pay attention: Please note that we do not move people, animals, plants, dangerous chemicals, or food that goes bad quickly.

After the load is done, the truck will go to your location. If necessary, we can set up extra stops along the way, like storage.

Our trucks can come with GPS tracking, so you can keep up with the progress of the delivery when time is of the essence.

3. After the move

When they get there, you tell our movers how to unload, where to put boxes by room, and how to put together furniture. Even if you just want help unpacking, we can do that too.

We let you look over the things one last time before we leave so you can be sure everything got there safely and is where it should be.

If something is damaged or missing: If something is broken or missing, take pictures of it and let your move manager know right away so that we can fix it quickly and correctly.

About Moving Prices

Moving to or from Pasadena can be expensive depending on the distance, the number of items being moved, the type of entry (stairs, elevators, long carries), and any parking or curb-reservation needs.

  • Local Moving: Hourly rates are used for moves that are less than 150 miles.
  • Long-Distance Moving: Most of the time, moves over 150 miles are paid at a flat rate.
  • Moving and Storage: Storage is usually paid every month and includes moving things to and from storage and loading and unloading them.

California compliance note: Note for California residents: If you hire a mover to help you move within California, the state requires them to have the right licenses and insurance. For more information, see the Caltrans intrastate household mover licensing outline and the CA BHGS FAQ. Most of the time, FMCSA systems like SAFER are used for interstate moves for verification.

F.A.Q. about moving in Pasadena, CA

Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).

Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.

Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time (we take into account 15 minute increments).

Find out more on our pricing page.

Move and Care provides two types of insurance. Basic insurance (Released Value Protection) - this is free and is included by default in any of our services. The movers will not transport perishable products, nor will they transport any hazardous objects. We also do not transport plants or weapons, and our services do not include animal transportation.
