About Dripping Springs, TX

Dripping Springs is a city in Hays County that is growing. It is known as the “Gateway to the Hill Country” because it is easy to get back to Austin and has both small-town streets and neighborhoods that are growing quickly.

These are some of the moves we often plan in and around Dripping Springs:

  • Downtown / the Mercer Street area (more action on the sidewalks, small window of time during rush hours)
  • Belterra (Belterra is a big town south of US 290. HOA rules and busy school and commuter traffic can make it hard to stage trucks.)
  • Headwaters (Driving angles and walk lengths can be affected by changes in hill country terrain and elevation.)
  • Caliterra (Caliterra is a master-planned community near Onion Creek where neighborhood rules can be used to arrange move-in dates and curb access.)
  • Dripping Springs Ranch Park area (The area around Dripping Springs Ranch Park can get busier on event days, especially near RR 12 and Event Center Dr.)
🏙️ You can start your search for local information on the City’s tourist page (Dripping Springs “Welcome Visitors”) and on City pages for parks and events like Dripping Springs Ranch Park.

Moving Process in Dripping Springs, TX

There are three parts to moving with Move & Care: getting ready, moving day, and cleaning up afterward. Even though the steps are easy, it takes longer than it should because of the roads, scenery, and neighborhood rules in Dripping Springs.

1. Preparation

We’ll finalize the service scope (labor-only, full-service, packing, storage coordination, etc.) once you request an estimate and set a date. The most important thing to do before moving is to pack. Use our packing service if you want full help. Check out our helpful guide on how to pack for a move if you decide to do it yourself. Start early to get a lot done on moving day.

Before you move, find out some information about the area:

  1. Neighborhood / HOA restrictions. Limits set by the neighborhood or HOA. In master-planned neighborhoods, make sure you know the correct gate codes, move-in hours, and where a truck can park without blocking mailboxes, fire hydrants, or intersections.
  2. Parking & permit reality. Parking and permits are real. You don’t always need a City permit for small moves within your own home as long as the truck can stay in your driveway. But the City has a formal process called Street Closure Permit Request that you can follow if you need to use the public right-of-way or ask for a short street closure so that trucks can park safely. Lead time can be part of the submit requirements (plan ahead for any shutdown request). If you’re not sure, check with the City’s Forms for Parks & Community Services, which has information on permits and forms.
  3. Route & timing. Route and time. Most move-day routes are shaped by two roads: US 290, which is the main route back to Austin, and RR 12, which is a major neighborhood route going north to south. During construction and road closures, especially near RR 12 and US 290, travel times may be longer. To see real-time road conditions, go to DriveTexas and check out TxDOT’s US 290 West projects for changes to the road.

Ask your moving coordinator about access notes like steep driveways, long walks, and tight turns. That way, we can plan the safest way to load and the best place for the truck to be for speed and safety.

2. The Move

When moving day comes, our Dripping Springs movers show up at the time we agreed on, go over the plan with you, and then protect the floors and doors as needed. When asked, we take apart furniture, pad and wrap things with moving blankets, and load the truck in a way that keeps everything safe and prevents damage. If you need short-term storage, we can plan a stop at a storage place along the way.

3. After the Move

When we get there, we unload into the rooms you pick, put together the furniture again according to the plan, and put big things where you need them. If unloading help is part of the deal, we’ll do it, and then we’ll give you time to look over your things so you can be sure the move is over.

About Pricing

There are two main ways that Move & Care prices their services:

  • Hourly rates for moves within 150 miles of Dripping Springs and the greater Austin area
  • Flat-rate pricing for long-distance moves within Texas and between states, based on the size of the load, the distance, and the scope of the service.

Worker hours, truck size, packing needs, and access issues like stairs, long carry distances, or tight staging are all things that can be measured and used to make your estimate. Here are some entry notes that will help you make the best plan: driveway grade, gate codes, HOA rules, and a safe place for a truck to park.

F.A.Q. about moving in Dripping Springs, TX

Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).

Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.

Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time (we take into account 15 minute increments).

Find out more on our pricing page.

Move and Care provides two types of insurance. Basic insurance (Released Value Protection) - this is free and is included by default in any of our services. Move and Care guarantees liability for no more than 60 cents per pound per item. And Full Value Protection - this insurance means that any damage is fully covered, but there is an additional charge.

The movers will not transport perishable products, nor will they transport any hazardous objects. We also do not transport plants or weapons, and our services do not include animal transportation.
