About Castle Hills, TX
Castle Hills is a separate city in the greater San Antonio area. The City of Castle Hills says that Jackson-Keller Road is to the south, Lockhill Selma Road is to the north, Blanco Road is to the east, and the T&NO train tracks are to the west. NW Loop 410 cuts the city in half, which is another reason why even short local moves here are better with a plan instead of deciding at the last minute.
Many moves are planned by corridor and residential pocket instead of by big master-planned neighborhoods in a city this small. Some useful small places are Castle Gardens, the NW Military corridor, the Blanco Road corridor, the city side with Dogwood, E. Castle Lane, and Wisteria, and the city side with Carolwood, Banyan, and Gardenview. Several of these street clusters are named directly in the city's drainage and street-planning papers. This helps when planning truck access and loading windows in certain parts of Castle Hills.
There are still a lot of moves for detached homes in Castle Hills. The city says the neighborhood has private homes, big lots, and lots of trees, which matches how we usually see people getting in and out on move day. That being said, Castle Hills' zoning also includes duplex and apartment types, so not every address can be moved like a single-family driveway. When it comes to truck placement and parking, some properties near business corridors need more care than residential blocks in the middle of town.
Moving Process in Castle Hills, TX
Before the move, during the move, and after the move are the three parts of moving with Move & Care.
The form is easy to understand. What makes the move easy are the little things.
1. Preparation
Preparations begin as soon as you agree to the moving date and price estimate. We can pack for you if you use our packing service. If you're going to be packing by yourself, you should get started early and use a room-by-room list so that the last few days are only for packing basics and last-minute things. Our packing guide can help.
Before you move in Castle Hills, you should make sure of a few useful things:
- Street entry and where to park the truck. Castle Hills isn't very big, but getting to it isn't always easy. Getting to the frontage road of Loop 410, the timing of NW Military, and the amount of traffic on Blanco, Lockhill Selma, West Avenue, and Jackson-Keller can all change the best time to arrive.
- Local laws and parking. It is against the rules for the city to park on paved streets from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. The city also has a written-permit exception for cases where guests are staying overnight. This rule isn't very important for daytime moves, but it is important if a truck, trailer, or personal car needs to stay on the street overnight. Check out the city's Codes & Ordinances and the warning about parking on the street at night.
- Permit questions. There isn't a public page for Castle Hills moving truck permits that we could find. The city does put out a Permit Office page, a fee plan that includes Work in Right of Way, and ways to get in touch with the Permit Office. Check with the city ahead of time instead of thinking it is okay if your move will block the right-of-way, slow down normal traffic, or require overnight parking on the street.
- Getting into the building. If you are moving into a duplex, apartment, office-adjacent property, or any other address with a narrow frontage, make sure the movers know where they can park the truck and if there are any best times to move.
- Plan your move. Our moving checklist can help you with organizing, moving utilities, and the week before the move.
Ask your move coordinator before the day starts if you don't understand anything about access, timing, or parking. Early resolution of those issues typically results in cost and time savings.
2. The Move
When the moving day comes, our movers show up at the time they said they would, go over the plan with you, protect the floors and doors as needed, and then start loading. If packing is part of the deal, we do that first. We can also take apart furniture, use moving blankets to protect big items, and organize the truck so it's easier to unload when we get to the new location.
It's not enough to just work quickly on Castle Hills jobs. It's to keep the area around the house and the street clean. That means carefully planning truck placement on smaller blocks or addresses that face corridors. That means picking the right time to leave so the crew doesn't waste time in traffic on moves that cross Loop 410 or go onto NW Military, Blanco, Lockhill Selma, or Jackson-Keller.
With our moving and storage services, we can also help you coordinate a stop at storage if your move includes one.
3. After the Move
When they arrive, the crew unloads into the rooms you choose, puts together any furniture that was taken apart for travel, and helps you put the big pieces where you want them. If help with unpacking was included, we can go from there.
When the move is done, you can go over it with the crew and make sure all the big things are where they belong. That last walkthrough is important, especially for bigger houses or moves with more than one delivery zone inside the house.
About Pricing
Move & Care charges two different ways to calculate prices: hourly rates for local moves and flat-rate estimates for long-distance moves. That means that a move within Castle Hills or between Castle Hills and another close address in the San Antonio area is usually charged by the hour. On the other hand, a move across Texas or into a different state is usually planned as a flat-rate job.
How much something costs in Castle Hills isn't always just how many boxes you have. It's the combination of inventory and access. Just a few examples:
- The timing around NW Military or Blanco will determine whether the move goes across Loop 410 or not.
- If the truck can stand close to the door or if the crew has a long way to go.
- Whether the address is for a single-family house on a larger lot or a duplex or apartment building.
- Whether you require packing, disassembly of furniture, storage, or multiple stops.
- How the truck placement or the allowed moving time is affected by city or property rules.
In the event that you need to choose between Move & Care and a faraway castle rock moving company, the practical benefit of a nearby San Antonio-based team is local execution. When you're in Castle Hills, it can save you time to know the right side of Loop 410, the real route, and the city's parking rules.
We will base the move on the real location, not just the ZIP code, if you request an estimate.
More About PricingF.A.Q. about moving in Castle Hills, TX
Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).
Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we
determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the
number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly
rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.
Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be
determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time
(we take into account 15 minute increments).
