About Universal City, TX

Universal City is a northeast San Antonio suburb. It has strong military ties and is directly connected to Randolph. As part of its Aviation District Masterplan, the city calls itself the Gateway to Randolph Air Force Base. The East Aviation District is envisioned as a business corridor south of Pat Booker Road and an entrance to Randolph. For moving work, this means that one city can have quiet residential streets, business frontages that look like corridors, and more restricted access near major roads.

Pat Booker Road, FM 78, Loop 1604, and parts of Kitty Hawk Road, depending on the address, are the most important roads for logistics. The city’s Public Works page makes it clear that TxDOT is in charge of the signal lines on Pat Booker, FM 78, and Loop 1604. Universal City is in charge of the three signals on Kitty Hawk Road. This means that based on which side of town you are moving to and whether the truck needs to use the Pat Booker / 1604 side of the city, the timing of your move can vary greatly.

🏙️ Check out the City of Universal City, the Aviation District Masterplan, and TxDOT’s Loop 1604 project page for public information about the area.

Moving Process in Universal City, TX

Before the move, during the move, and after the move are the three parts of moving with Move & Care. While the process is easy, there are a few useful things about Universal City that you should look into ahead of time.

1. Preparation

Once you agree with the estimate and set a date, the most important thing to do is start packing. We can do that for you if you use our packing service. To pack by yourself, start early and make a plan for each room. Our packing advice can help you get your work together.

Here are three things you should check before the move:

  1. Timing and route. Universal City’s key traffic routes are Pat Booker Road, FM 78, and Loop 1604. TxDOT confirms that Loop 1604 is still a major corridor for growth. If your address loads or unloads near those roads, the timing of the morning and afternoon shifts may vary.
  2. Permit and parking rules. The permit page for Universal City shows “Moving” as a permit-required activity, but it doesn’t say if that means moving a structure or just moving your stuff around the house. To be safe, you should check with Development Services ahead of time if your work might impact the street, curb, path, or public right-of-way. The city also says that vehicles can’t be put on grass in the front yard. This is important to know in case someone thinks that a truck or container can just roll onto a lawn.
  3. Property type and access. A move might be mostly about driveway placement and carry distance in places like Park Olympia, Heritage Hills, Red Horse Manor, and Rose Garden. Most of the time, reserved parking, less room for loading, and management rules are the bigger problems at apartment or condo buildings. Don’t forget to transfer utilities, get access codes, or do other important things before the move. Use our moving checklist.

Before the day of the move, ask your move supervisor anything that isn’t clear. In Universal City, that’s especially helpful if the property is close to Pat Booker, FM 78, or a block with multiple units that has tighter access.

2. The Move

Our movers show up at the time they said they would, go over the plan with you, protect floors and furniture as needed, and load the truck in a way that makes delivery easier. If packing is part of the deal, we take care of that too. A stop at a storage unit can be added to the route if that’s part of your move.

When we do work in Universal City, we pay close attention to where the truck can stand safely and effectively. In places where sidewalk or curb access is limited, like next to a highway or in an apartment complex, this is more important.

3. After the Move

At delivery, we unload into the rooms you tell us about, put together any furniture that comes with the service, and put big things where you want them. You can look over the shipment and make sure the key parts are where they should be before we leave.

The same process applies whether you are going within Universal City, going to another part of Texas, or using Move & Care for an interstate move from the San Antonio area.

About Pricing

Move & Care has two main types of prices: hourly rates for local moves and written estimates for long-distance and interstate moves. Based on the distance and the size of the work, the right style will be chosen.

The main factors that affect time and cost in Universal City are truck access, move distance, stairs, the type of property, and truck timing around Pat Booker Road, FM 78, and Loop 1604. Changes in packing, storage stops, oversize items, and a lack of loading room can also affect the final number. Because of this, a good estimate is more important than a broad price range.

F.A.Q. about moving in Universal City, TX

Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).

Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.

Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time (we take into account 15 minute increments).

The movers will not transport perishable products, nor will they transport any hazardous objects. We also do not transport plants or weapons, and our services do not include animal transportation.
