About Shearer Hills / Shearer Hills-Ridgeview (San Antonio, TX)
Shearer Hills and Shearer Hills-Ridgeview are neighbourhoods in north-central San Antonio that are close to and inside Loop 410. They are known for having a mix of classic homes and a lot of apartment communities. It's easy to get to the airport, downtown, and other parts of the metro, and you're close to places you need every day.
One great thing about this place is how easy it is to get around. It's easier to plan efficient move windows and cut down on drive time between stops when Loop 410 and close connectors like US-281 are easy to get to. You can use VIA Metropolitan Transit to find out about public transit lines and times if you take it.
In this part of the loop, traffic can get heavy on weekends and during rush hours, especially near major interchanges and shopping areas. You should carefully plan loading times and reserve lifts (if they are available) for flat moves because of this.
🏙️ ️ Do you need help from the city with streets or curbs, rules for big items, or general service questions? The best place to start is with San Antonio's official 311 Customer Service.
The Process of Moving in Shearer Hills / Shearer Hills-Ridgeview
How to Move in Shearer Hills or Shearer Hills-Ridgeview
With Move and Care, your move is easy and well-planned. Before the move, during the move, and after the move are the three steps.
1. Preparation
We check your inventory, access, and times once you book. When moving a lot of apartments, we'll also ask about lifts, loading zones, gate codes, and any paperwork the building needs (some properties ask for a COI or a scheduled move-in window).
If you hire us to pack, we can do it on the day of the move or one or two days early, based on how busy we are and how many things we need to do. Use our packing guide to keep things quick and easy if you do some or all of the packing yourself.
Tip: It's more important than you think to pack well for long-distance moves. Things may be moved around more, be shaken, and go through more temperature changes and vibrations while they're in travel.
Apartment move checklist (the stuff that actually causes delays): Checklist for moving into a flat (the things that really slow things down): Make sure we have the gate codes and callbox directions, confirm the move-in hours, and ask about loading zones. If needed, protect the hallways, and reserve the lift if your building has one. If you don't have enough room at the curb, ask your building about designated loading areas and call 311 in San Antonio for help with city rules.
Don't forget about the moving paperwork. You can save time with these approved tools:
- USPS Change of Address (Change of location for the USPS (forward mail and change your location))
- CPS Energy (CPS Energy (start, stop or change gas or electricity service))
- SAWS (SAWS (start/stop water service))
Use our moving checklist to stay on top of things and avoid a mess at the last minute.
2. Move
Our team shows up on time on moving day and confirms the best way to load based on the state of your building and the street. We protect important surfaces, wrap furniture, take things apart when needed, and load carefully so that they don't move around while they're being moved. For flat moves, we keep an eye on the lift time and make sure we follow the rules of the building.
❗Pay attention: Please note that we do not move people, animals, plants, dangerous chemicals, or food that goes bad quickly.
After everything is loaded, the truck will go to where you need to go. If you need planned stops for things like storage, a second pickup, or key handoff, we'll let you know ahead of time so you can be sure of the schedule.
Our cars can come with GPS tracking, which lets you know how the move is going even when it takes longer.
3. After the move
We unload when you tell us to at the arrival site. The boxes are put in rooms that have been labelled, the furniture is put together and put where you want it, and if you need help unpacking, that's fine too.
Before we end, you can do a tour to make sure everything got here safely and is in the right place.
If something is damaged or missing: If something is broken or missing, take pictures of it and let your move planner know right away so we can fix it right away.
About Moving Prices
Prices for moving vary based on distance, size, ease of entry, and level of service. Moving apartments can also be hard if there are stairs, no elevators, or a long walk from the parking lot to the unit.
- Local Moving: Local Moving: Most of the time, moves less than 150 miles are charged by the hour.
- Long-Distance Moving: Moving Over 150 Miles: Moves over 150 miles are usually priced as a flat-rate shipment.
- Moving and Storage: Moving and Storage: You usually pay a monthly fee for storage, which includes moving your things to and from the storage centre and loading and unloading them.
Quick pricing note for apartments: A quick tip on flat prices: reserved lifts and easy access for loading usually cut down on the time it takes to work. Parking far away and no lift means more time. That will be part of the plan so you don't have to guess on move day.
F.A.Q. about moving in Shearer Hills
Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).
Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we
determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the
number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly
rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.
Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be
determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time
(we take into account 15 minute increments).
