About Framingham, MA
01701, 01702, 01703, 01704, and 01705 are the zip codes.
Framingham is an important MetroWest city west of Boston, and there is not just one type of living there. Downtown Framingham near the commuter train station, the historic Framingham Center/Center Common area, village-style areas like Nobscot and Saxonville, and residential parts of South Framingham are all places that people can move to. This variety is one reason why planning locally is important here.
There are also certain facts about the way that can change how a move should be planned. The City of Framingham says that there have been traffic problems for a long time near the Downtown Route 126 / Route 135 rail crossing. The city also says that Route 9 / Worcester Road is an important route. Controlling traffic and turning movements can make truck approach and correct curb access more important than people think in the shopping area near Speen Street and Cochituate Road.
Every part of Framingham has a different kind of building. There has been a lot of mixed-use and residential growth near transit in downtown, while the Centre Common Historic District has older and more sensitive housing. That means the best moving plan can be very different for a new apartment, an older house, or a building with tighter stairs or tougher building rules.
Moving Process in Framingham, MA
When you use Move & Care to move, there are usually three steps: getting ready, moving, and setting up after the move.
Even though the process is easy, knowing how to get to and park in Framingham can make a big difference. This is how we plan to do it.
1. Preparation
After getting an estimate and picking a date, the most important thing to do before the move is to get ready. For most clients, it starts with packing. We can pack the whole house or just the parts you want help with if you add our packing service. Use our packing guide and start early if you are packing yourself. Do not wait until the last few days to do everything.
Before you move to Framingham, here are some useful things you should do:
- Building access and move rules. In some apartment and condo buildings, the management may need to see a certificate of insurance, an elevator reservation, or a set moving time. This happens a lot when the building has shared loading areas or tighter rules for management.
- Street parking and time limits. Framingham does not seem to have a standard citywide “moving truck permit” page for a regular house move. The city does put out parking rules that might affect the job. According to the official parking restrictions page, vehicles with commercial license plates are not allowed to stay on city streets overnight or on Sundays. There are three-hour parking zones in Framingham Downtown and the Framingham State / Framingham Center area.
- Public right-of-way occupancy. The City of Framingham says you need a street/sidewalk obstruction permit if your setup will put a container or other equipment in the street or on a city sidewalk. Talk to the city ahead of time if you are not sure whether this is needed for your move.
- Move planning. Make a list of things to do so you do not forget to update your address, pay for utilities, book elevators, plan storage times, or get fragile items ready. You can start by looking over our moving checklist.
Ask your moving manager before the service date if you do not understand something about the move. There is more to a good moving plan than just trucks and people to help. It is also about avoiding problems that can be avoided.
2. The Move
When the moving day comes, our movers show up at the time they said they would, go over the plan with you, protect the floors and entryways before starting to load. We will also pack if that is part of the service. When needed, furniture is taken apart, carefully wrapped in moving blankets and other materials, and put into the truck.
When we do work in Framingham, we also pay attention to how the route and curbs are set up. Because of the traffic near the train crossing and Routes 126 and 135, downtown addresses may need tighter timing. Traffic on or near Worcester Road, Speen Street, and Cochituate Road can change when the truck should arrive and where it is best to stage. If you need to stop at a storage unit on the way to your new home, we can add that to the trip.
3. After the Move
We unload based on your room plan, put together the furniture that was taken apart for travel, and put the main pieces where you want them. We can add help with unpacking if that is part of the order.
You can check the shipment with the crew leader after unloading to make sure everything is where it should be. The goal is not only to move your things from one place to another, but also to leave you in a space that you can use and feel at home.
About Pricing
Hourly rates for local moves and flat-rate estimates for long-distance moves are the two main pricing methods used by Move & Care. Longer in-state and interstate relocations are usually planned on a flat-rate basis, while local service typically covers moves up to about 150 miles from Boston.
What affects time and cost in Framingham
There are some things that are unique to Framingham that can change the final labor time or the size of the estimate.
- Traffic and route conditions. If timing is bad or trucks cannot get to places easily, it may take longer to do jobs that go through Downtown Framingham, the area where Route 126 and Route 135 cross, Route 9 and Worcester Road, or the Speen Street and Cochituate Road corridor.
- Building type. In a newer apartment or mixed-use building, the elevator may need to be scheduled and loading may need to be handled more carefully. An older home near Framingham Center or another historic place may have stairs that are narrower, turns that are tighter, or carries that are longer, all of which make the work take longer.
- Packing and unpacking. Packing is an extra service that you can add to your move. It is not part of the base move. You can ask for full packing, partial packing, fragile-only packing, or unpacking, based on how much help you need and how much money you have.
- Parking and carry distance. If the truck cannot stop close to the door because of three-hour zones, street limits, or not enough curb space, the move could take longer.
- Special handling. The amount of work that needs to be done is affected by things like large, fragile furniture, storage stops, and last-minute changes.
So, the most useful estimate is one that is based on the specifics of your Framingham move, not just the number of rooms. We will help you choose the most practical option after you request an estimate and tell us about the building and how the parking is set up.
More About PricingF.A.Q. about moving in Framingham , MA
Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).
Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we
determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the
number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly
rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.
Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be
determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time
(we take into account 15 minute increments).
