Living in Stoughton, MA

Just 20 miles south of Boston, Stoughton offers a balance many people are looking for: suburban comfort with quick access to the city. A drive to Boston usually takes 30–40 minutes via I-93 or Route 24, and the commuter rail makes the trip much easier.

What else makes Stoughton appealing

  • Convenience: Close to major highways (I-93, I-95, Route 24) and with its own MBTA station on the Providence/Stoughton Line.
  • Green spaces: Locals love Ames Pond, Bird Street Conservation Area, and Halloran Park for walking, hiking, and relaxing.
  • Everyday life: Washington Street and the town center are full of restaurants, shops, and small businesses.

Things to keep in mind

Like many suburbs, Stoughton has rush-hour traffic, especially along Washington Street and Route 138. The housing market is also competitive. But compared to Boston and nearby towns, Stoughton, MA feels more affordable while being well connected.

Moving with Move and Care in Stoughton, MA

We have a simple and transparent relocation process that ensures that everything goes as it should. It consists of three clear stages: preparation, the move itself, and post-move setup.

Preparation

After you book a move, we’ll evaluate the inventory to bring all the necessary tools and personnel. Moreover, Move and Care will help you get ready with:

Packing: Choose what works best for you — we can handle all packing if you choose full-packing service, share the job with you, or provide materials if you’d like to do it yourself.

Parking: Most Stoughton streets allow truck parking, but some apartment complexes have restrictions. If permits are needed, we’ll guide you. No permit? We’ll park nearby and make it work.

Please contact the mayor's office or the property management office about the permit in advance. It will save your time and money.

Moving Day

Here’s how it works:

  1. Our team shows up in Stoughton, MA on time and finds the best spot to park.
  2. Furniture is protected, assembled/disassembled if needed, and everything is loaded securely. All valuables are packed with extra caution.
  3. If you need extra stops at a storage unit or another address in town, we’ll build multi-stop routing.

We can’t move people, pets, plants, perishable or hazardous items.

All trucks are GPS-tracked.

Settling In

At your new place, we’ll unload boxes and reassemble furniture. If unpacking is part of your plan, we’ll help with that too. Before leaving, we do a final check together to make sure everything’s in place and its original form.

Working with us, you’re insurance protected. In case of any item damage contact us – we’ll sort out and help to get a refund.

What is the average cost of local movers in Stoughton, MA

We keep our pricing flexible, so it works with your moving plan and budget. The final cost depends on a few core factors:

  • Distance: Local moves under 150 miles are billed hourly. Long-distance moves use a flat rate.
  • Packing: Charged hourly, depending on how much needs to be packed.
  • Storage: Monthly fee that covers loading, unloading, and transport to the facility.
  • Special items: Heavy or fragile pieces like pianos or safes may have additional costs.

Every move is different, so we’ll talk through your needs and give you a clear estimate before the work begins.

More About Pricing

F.A.Q. about moving in Stoughton, MA

Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).

Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.

Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time (we take into account 15 minute increments).

Find out more on our pricing page.

Move and Care provides two types of insurance. Basic insurance (Released Value Protection) - this is free and is included by default in any of our services. Move and Care guarantees liability for no more than 60 cents per pound per item. And Full Value Protection - this insurance means that any damage is fully covered, but there is an additional charge.

The movers will not transport perishable products, nor will they transport any hazardous objects. We also do not transport plants or weapons, and our services do not include animal transportation.
