Request a QuoteNashua is a southern New Hampshire city, 40 miles north of Boston. It's the state's second-largest city and one of the most popular places to move from the city but still want to be accessible to Greater Boston. Known for its walkable downtown, schools, and accessibility to nature, Nashua has a mix of small-city accessibility and suburban ease.
Nashua is safer than 40% of U.S. cities, says NeighborhoodScout, with a crime index of 40. Crime rates in Nashua vary by location—neighborhoods near the downtown area and southwest are more active, but North Nashua and the Southwood Drive community are quiet and secure.
In spite of some of the challenges, Nashua is well-liked by families, young professionals, and retirees. People enjoy easy access to shopping, restaurants, and the outdoors—with Mine Falls Park, the Nashua River Rail Trail, and nearby ski resorts offering year-round recreation.
It is simple to navigate, especially for commuters. Nashua adjoins U.S. Route 3, which has direct access to I-95 and I-93, making driving to Boston or to other neighboring towns very convenient. Even though the city does not have immediate rail access, the highway adjacency and close drive make car commuting a prevalent option.
The Nashua real estate market is competitive but cheaper than Boston. The market is very demanding, particularly in locations with good schools and highway access. As of February 2025, the median Nashua home price was about $489,900, and the average one-bedroom apartment rental was $1,983 (Realtor.com, Nashua, NH).
