Delivering to a home on Fort Gordon
If your new address is on Fort Gordon, delivery day starts at the gate. The post's access page sends moving vehicles to Gate 6, truck side, off Gordon Highway for extra screening. Every commercial truck is inspected and logged, everyone riding in it has to be vetted and carry an installation pass or badge, and the bill of lading or invoice must list an address on the installation (Fort Gordon visitor and access information). People without a pass stop at the truck-side visitor center first. Send us the full on-post address together with your item list, so it is printed on the paperwork the guards read, and plan the morning with the inspection in it. Ask your housing office early about move-in hours and where the truck may stand.

Two driving days on I-95 and I-20
The road out of Boston is the Massachusetts Turnpike, then I-84 and I-91 down to I-95 at New Haven. From there I-95 carries the truck past New York City, over the New Jersey Turnpike, through Baltimore and onto the Capital Beltway around Washington. Around Richmond the route takes I-295, then picks I-95 back up for the run into South Carolina, and it finishes west on I-20 into Augusta. Federal hours-of-service rules cap a driver at 11 hours of driving a day, and this road takes about 16, so the drive splits over two days.
