Moving Process with Austin to Houston Movers
Googling “Austin to Houston movers” for a stress-free 165-mile transition down TX-71 and I-10? Our fully licensed crews wrap, scan, and GPS-track every item, finishing most household moves the same day so you can trade Hill Country sunsets for Bayou City skylines without missing a beat.
Step 1 — Plan Ahead
Start purging closets two weeks out, then color-code boxes by room and priority. Rather skip the packing marathon? Reserve our full-service packers; we use double-wall cartons and heat-resistant cushioning that survive a July haul on I-10.
- Reserve curb space in Austin. Downtown streets require a Right-of-Way Parking permit—apply at least three business days before loading via the City of Austin ROW portal.
- Need more than a curb lane? Large PODs or trailers may trigger a Temporary Use of Right-of-Way (TURP) permit—bond and insurance required.
- Plan Houston unloading. Residential blocks limit large vehicles to two hours; snag a Commercial Vehicle Loading Zone (CVLZ) permit if you need longer curb time.
- Avoid tickets overnight. Trucks taller than eight feet may not park on Houston streets for more than two hours—budget for a nearby lot if unloading runs late.
- Grab our free moving checklist to keep every deadline clear.
Step 2 — Moving-Day Precision
On the big day, our DOT-certified crew pad-wraps furniture, shrink-wraps upholstery, and scans each item into a digital inventory before loading 26-ft air-ride trucks. The live GPS-tracking app lets you follow the rig from your Austin driveway to your Houston driveway in real time.
Step 3 — After the Drive
At your Houston address we reassemble beds, stage boxes by room, and can arrange climate-controlled storage if you’re still house-hunting. Add unpacking service and spend your first evening sampling Tex-Mex on Washington Avenue instead of digging for cookware.
