*Based on recent moves from Boston, MA to Miami, FL. Updated March 2026. Inventory, access, and any special items like pianos or safes all affect pricing.

As an interstate move from Boston to Miami, we give you a written flat-rate estimate. The approved estimate covers the services listed for your move, such as the truck, fuel, tolls, labour, the mandatory $50 equipment kit, and COI coordination for high-rise buildings or Boston loading zones.

How does Move & Care’s rate work? We first factor in mileage (1,500 miles along I-95), then we list your items, note any special-item charges (such as 160 dollars for a piano), and factor in any additional costs like packing or storage needs (such as a “pack only kitchen” or “move only large appliances”). For the majority of Boston to Miami moves, the final price relies on the volume, pickup, delivery, packing, storage, and any special items. The fastest way to get an accurate estimate for your move is to have a written estimate made after a video survey.

You can take a live or FaceTime visual survey, and it’s completely free.

It’s easy to pay: cash gets you a 5% discount, but cards have a 3.5% processing fee that you can’t dodge. Once you pay the deposit, the date and flat rate are set. There will be no mistakes later.

Sample 1,500-Mile Moving Timeline

It takes about 2–4 days to move from Boston to Miami. The truck usually travels south along the I-95 corridor after pickup in Greater Boston, stopping for the night along the way. Delivery usually occurs on Day 3 or 4, based on shipment size, shipment timing, weather, and building access at the destination. Everyone in charge of you will send you a GPS location update every night so you always know where the truck is and can get ready for delivery in Miami.

What to Know Before Moving from Boston to Miami

As the weather changes from biting cold to subtropical heat, you should take a second look at your wardrobe and way of packing. The National Weather Service says that Miami’s normal summer humidity is almost 20% higher than Boston’s. Because of this, we always pack winter coats and electronics in containers that won’t get wet or, if you ask, put them in our climate-controlled compartment.

To park a truck on some Boston streets, especially narrow historic streets, you may need a parking permit for a curbside loading moving truck. In Miami, many condo boards require an elevator reservation. In Boston, we help with loading permits when needed, and in Miami, we help with elevator reservations, truck size information for the property, required signs, and getting approval from the building manager before move day. Additionally, during hurricane season (June-November) in Florida, we keep an eye on NOAA advisories and, if necessary, change the route or delivery window to prevent mishaps and guarantee the security of your cargo.

Finally, keep in mind that Move & Care does more than just drop off boxes. We reassemble every bed, protect your furniture during transport by giving you free moving blankets, rearrange furniture until the rooms feel right, and clean up all the packing materials before we leave, so you can start exploring South Florida instead of wrestling with trash bags.

The Moving Process (Boston to Miami)

Preparation

Your dedicated coordinator, an FMCSA-certified expert with ten years of long-distance experience, does a quick video survey, makes an inventory of all the items, and sets up the Boston curb permit. If you buy packing supplies from us, we can bring the boxes and packing supplies to you ahead of time and leave early if our schedules allow it.

Moving Day

An orderly crew pads, shrink-wraps, and labels each item, and then they load our air-ride truck. Two licensed drivers take turns working, and at night, GPS pings let you know what’s going on. If winter weather or a tropical system looks like it might happen, we quickly change the route to keep the timeline.

Delivery & Unpacking

On the third day, we get to Miami-Dade. Our movers reassemble furniture, place rugs and furniture exactly where you point, and take away every last piece of packing material. Elevator booked, COI on file. You are free to put on sunscreen instead of your Red Sox cap and head to the beach after a joint walkthrough confirms everything arrived in perfect condition.

F.A.Q. about Moving from Boston to Miami

We follow federal and state guidelines on prohibited items. Generally, movers will not transport:
  • Hazardous materials: e.g., gasoline, propane tanks, paints, chemicals, firearms, fireworks – anything flammable or explosive.
  • Perishables: food that can spoil (to prevent messes or attracting pests).
  • Plants: Long trips can kill plants, and some states regulate bringing plants across state lines (to prevent pests).
  • Pets: We don’t move live animals – you’ll need to make pet travel arrangements (we can refer you to pet relocation specialists if needed).
  • Personal valuables: We recommend you carry jewelry, important documents, cash, and small electronics with you for security.
When you book with us, we’ll provide a complete list of non-allowables and help you plan around them (e.g., safely disposing of flammables or shipping certain items separately).
Miami has a hurricane season from June through November. If you’re moving during that period, we’ll keep an eye on tropical weather forecasts. In case of a hurricane or tropical storm approaching, we’d adjust the schedule for safety (and keep you fully informed).

On the Boston side, if you’re moving in winter, snow and ice are considerations – we have experience with New England winter moves and come prepared (shovels, floor protection, etc.).

No matter the season, we take precautions to protect your belongings from weather, like using waterproof packing materials and securing items tightly in the truck.
Typically about 2–4 days in transit. The driving distance is roughly 1,500 miles, which is about 24 hours of wheel time.

Our team usually schedules pickup in Boston and then delivery in Miami within 2 or 3 days. The exact timing can vary based on factors like weather or traffic.

We’ll provide a delivery window before your move starts, and you can track the truck’s progress (all our trucks have GPS). Rest assured, we aim to get your belongings to Miami quickly and safely, without unnecessary delays.
We provide two levels of coverage for your move. Basic coverage (Released Value Protection) is included free with every move – it covers your items at 60 cents per pound per item. This is a minimal level of protection (common in the moving industry).

For greater peace of mind, we offer Full Value Protection at an additional cost – this means if an item is lost or damaged, we will repair it or compensate you for its full current value.

We’ll explain these options and their costs when you get a quote, so you can choose the coverage that best suits your needs. Our goal is to ensure you feel fully protected.
In short: for a Boston to Miami move, the cheapest rates almost always fall on Tuesday or Wednesday, with Monday and Thursday close behind.

Weekends and the last-and-first few days of each month command the highest prices because trucks and crews are already spoken for.

If you can schedule during Boston’s late-fall-to-early-spring “off-season” (October – April) and avoid Miami’s June-to-November hurricane window, you’ll stack another 10–25 percent in savings on top of the mid-week discount.
