Getting into your Dallas home
Many apartment and condo buildings in Dallas fix elevator hours, say where a truck may stand and want a Certificate of Insurance before a crew comes in. Get those rules from the leasing office or the HOA when you sign, then forward the insurance request to us as they wrote it, names and all, and we issue the certificate in that wording. Elevators, docks and street space are reserved in your name. At a house, mention a steep drive, a narrow street or a long walk from the curb when you ask for the estimate, because each one changes the work we price.
Boxes and old furniture after you unpack
For houses and duplexes, the City of Dallas picks up furniture, carpet and mattresses at the curb once a month, up to 10 cubic yards (Dallas Sanitation). Put them out between the Thursday and the Sunday before your collection week, just behind the curb and never in the street. The city's calendar gives your week by address, and items set out early can bring a citation. Flattened moving boxes go loose in the blue recycling cart. Electronics are not part of the bulky pickup. In an apartment building, the property decides how large items leave.
The road: I-35 north, then I-35E
From downtown San Antonio the truck runs I-35 north through Austin and Waco for about 215 miles. At Hillsboro the interstate splits: I-35E takes the last 56 miles into Dallas, and I-35W is the branch to Fort Worth, so a Fort Worth delivery leaves at the same fork. Fuel and tolls are inside your price, and slow traffic on I-35 does not change it. The prices on this page are for Dallas; a delivery to Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco or another suburb is priced from that address in your estimate.
From loading day to delivery
- San Antonio, loading day: the crew pads each piece, unbolts bed frames and table legs when a doorway calls for it and checks the load against your item list.
- About four hours of driving on I-35 and I-35E, one day on the road.
- Delivery in Dallas within 2 to 3 days of loading; the same day or the next is possible, depending on mover availability. Pieces are set in the rooms you name and rebuilt, and any damage goes on a Damage Report before the crew leaves.
Texas rules that protect this move
A move that starts and ends in Texas falls under TxDMV, not the federal mover rules. Every mover doing one must hold a TxDMV certificate; ours is TxDMV No. 009636518C, and TxDMV's Truck Stop lookup shows it Active. Before loading, a licensed mover must give you a written proposal and the state brochure on your rights. If something is lost or damaged, send a written claim within 90 days of delivery. The mover must acknowledge it within 23 days and pay, decline or make a firm offer within 90 days, and TxDMV offers mediation at no cost (TxDMV consumer page).
