About Boerne, TX

The two moving settings in Boerne are very distinct. One is the older downtown area in the Historic District. The city defines this area as being along Main Street between Frederick Street and Oak Park Drive. The other is the newer residential growth on the east side of town, including neighborhoods such as Trails at Herff Ranch, Champion Heights, Esperanza, and Ranches at Creekside. That’s one reason why a move in Boerne needs to be planned down to the address level.

Conditions on the route are also important here. Concerns about traffic have been raised by the city around Herff Road and River Road. Boerne’s safety planning also points out areas and crossings with I-10, Main Street, River Road, Esser Road, Johns Road, Blanco Road, Bandera Road, and SH 46. Timing is crucial, especially if your pickup or delivery is close to downtown or near the busier east-side growth routes.

When it comes to parking, general moving advice also falls short. There is an official Interactive Maps page for Boerne that has a downtown parking map and a public road-closure map. There is also a no-parking law that limits parking on both sides of some of South Main Street and along parts of River Road. That doesn’t make moving to Boerne hard, but if the address is close to the historic center, curb access should be checked early on.

🏙️ Start with the City of Boerne Historic District page and the city’s Interactive Maps for more information about the area. The Interactive Maps have tools for parking and road closures.

Moving Process in Boerne, TX

Before the move, during the move, and after the move are the three parts of moving with Move & Care.

The process is simple, but there are some things that are unique to Boerne that should be checked before the crew gets there.

1. Preparation

Say you asked for an estimate, agreed to the plan, and set the date. The next step is getting ready. Packing is the most important thing to do before moving.

We can pack everything for you or just the parts you need help with if you use our packing service. Check out our packing guide and start early if you want to do some of the packing yourself or have us do only part of it.

Before moving day, you should also answer a few useful questions:

  1. Are there any neighborhood, HOA, or access restrictions? It can be important in Boerne, both in the older central parts and in the newer neighborhoods. In some cases, moving from driveway to door is all that’s needed. Others could include gate access, stricter community rules, or long distances from where the truck is allowed to stop.
  2. How does parking really work at your address? It looks like Boerne doesn’t have a standard page for home moving trucks. The city does, however, put out Right-of-Way permit information, a street-closure information packet, and parking tools for downtown. It’s not clear if you need a separate moving permit for a normal home move, but you should check with the city ahead of time if your truck would be in the public right of way, block traffic, or need protected curb space near downtown.
  3. Has a lot of thought been put into the move? Use our moving checklist to make sure you don’t forget to transfer utilities, change your address, check the timing of your building access, or take care of any other last-minute necessities.

During the whole process, stay in touch with your moving manager. We send more than just movers. The day of the move goes smoothly because we help plan it.

2. The Move

Our crew shows up at the agreed-upon time on moving day. In your presence, we do the work that was planned: packing if you ask, taking apart if necessary, protecting, loading, transporting, and unloading. We plan your move’s stop at storage into the route if you need one.

When moving from Boerne, the conditions of the load are often more important than the distance. It may be more important to think about curb access and the distance from the truck to the door at a downtown address. In some ways, a newer subdivision home may be easier, but you may still need to work together to get around gates, follow neighborhood rules, or place your truck exactly where you want it. That’s why we base every move on the real location.

3. After the Move

Your things are unloaded by the movers into the rooms you give them at the new location. We can also put bigger things where you want them and put together furniture again. If unpacking was part of the deal, we’ll take care of that too. Once the shipment is unloaded, you or the person you’ve designated can check it to make sure everything came as planned.

About Pricing

There are two types of prices at Move & Care: hourly rates and flat rates. Local moves in the Boerne and San Antonio areas are charged at an hourly rate. Long-distance moves within Texas and interstate moves are charged at flat rates.

The final price in Boerne isn’t just based on distance. A lot of the time, it depends on how much furniture and boxes you have, how much help you need to pack, whether there are stairs or long walks, and how easy it is to get the truck to both addresses. Parking restrictions and narrower curb access in downtown areas can make things take longer in the historic center. In newer neighborhoods, gate instructions, HOA rules, and longer access within the neighborhood may also be important.

Packing is not always included in the moving rate. It’s an extra service that can be changed to fit your needs. You can ask for full packing, packing materials only, help with one room, or just packing fragile items. You can manage both the work and the budget with that much flexibility.

Requesting an estimate will allow us to examine the inventory and access information for your specific Boerne move, which is the best way to get a fair price.

F.A.Q. about moving in Boerne, TX

Yes, our moving company is fully licensed for local moves within the state. While interstate movers are regulated by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), local moving companies are regulated by the state. We also have individual state licenses wherever our offices are located: Massachusetts (MC Number: 1018431), North Carolina (NCUC Number: C-3067) and Texas (TXDMV: 009636518C).

Local moves with Move and Care are generated at an hourly rate. When we determine your moving plan, we also determine the approximate labor time and the number of movers needed. The number of movers determines the hourly rate. If your move is large, more movers means faster work and lower cost.

Your quota will give you an approximate cost of the job, the actual cost will be determined by the actual time spent, which may take a little less or a little more time (we take into account 15 minute increments).
