Why Choose Move & Care for
Boston to New Jersey Moves?

We Move with Care | Boston to New Jersey Movers

Move & Care runs the Boston ⇄ New Jersey corridor every week. As licensed, insured long-distance movers from Boston to New Jersey, we plan truck-legal routes, handle building COIs, help with curbside reservations, and keep you on a same-day or same/next-day timeline—without surprise fees.

Our thing is concierge moving. We confirm elevator windows with your building, guide you on Boston’s moving-day permits, and in North Jersey we set up the right parking solution (meter bags or Temporary No Parking signs where required). When we’re done, beds are reassembled, furniture is placed, and packing debris is gone—so you can start living, not digging through boxes.

Route, Distance & Timing

For North Jersey destinations like Jersey City or Newark, plan on roughly 225–226 miles and about 3 hr 45 min–3 hr 50 min of driving in typical conditions. We time departures to miss NYC choke points and use truck-legal crossings (e.g., George Washington Bridge or Lincoln Tunnel—never the Holland for trucks).*

*Examples: Boston → Jersey City ≈226 mi / ≈3h48; Boston → Newark ≈225 mi / ≈3h48 (typical). Sources at bottom.

Parking, Permits & Access

Boston (origin): A moving-day curb reservation isn’t legally required, but it’s strongly recommended on busy or narrow streets. The City offers a one-day permit (7 a.m.–5 p.m.) you can apply for online.

New Jersey (destination): Rules are city-specific. Many North Jersey buildings use Temporary No Parking signs and/or meter bagging for moving trucks. As one example, Jersey City’s Division of Parking publishes requirements and applications—we’ll help you follow them and post signage on time.

Insurance & Valuation (FMCSA)

By federal rule you choose one of two valuation options for interstate moves: Released Value (no extra cost; $0.60 per lb per article) or Full Value Protection (mover responsible for the item’s replacement value; deductible options vary). We’ll walk you through both before you book and put it in writing.

Truck-legal routing matters: Routing for trucks is important: Some NYC tunnels (like Holland) are off-limits to commercial trucks.  We plan to keep your timeline and compliance intact by using the Lincoln Tunnel or the George Washington Bridge.  Your coordinator will let you know which crossing is best for your building window.

We take care of the finishing touches, like putting your bed back together, protecting your blankets (which are included), placing your things in each room, and taking away the trash. This way, you can relax instead of fighting with boxes.

The Moving Process

Preparation

Fast video survey, detailed inventory, COIs sent to your buildings, permits/reservations lined up, and packing supplies delivered if you purchased them.

Moving Day

Uniformed crew pads/shrink-wraps furniture, protects doors/rails, and loads efficiently. We plan a truck-legal route and keep you updated if traffic/weather changes anything.

Delivery & Unpacking

At destination, we present the COI, manage the loading area/elevators, reassemble beds, place furniture by room, and haul away packing debris. Final walkthrough before we roll.

F.A.Q. about Moving from Boston to New Jersey

Yes, most of the time.  Most moves happen the same day because of an early Boston load and a truck-legal crossing.  If you have a lot of things to deliver or if the elevator is full, delivery might have to wait until the evening or the next morning.
A one-day curb reservation (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is not required by law, but it is highly recommended on busy streets. We will help you fill out the online application and give you truck specs.
The City uses Temporary No Parking signs and meter-bagging with lead time and notice requirements for spaces on the street. We will help you follow the rules, put up signs on time, and work with your building.
You can choose between Released Value ($0 extra; $0.60/lb per article) and Full Value Protection (replacement value; deductibles vary). Before you book, we'll go over both.
Yes, Holland can't be used by commercial trucks. We plan to use the Lincoln Tunnel or the George Washington Bridge to make sure everything stays on schedule and in compliance.
