There are municipal lots and on-street spaces around the Town Common in Norwood Center, however on-street parking in the Central Business District is limited to two hours unless otherwise stated (see the Town of Norwood’s parking ordinance below). For most residential moves the truck will stage in the driveway or at a legal curb location near the unit entrance rather than a CBD lot. The two MBTA Franklin/Foxboro Line stations—Norwood Central (164 Broadway) and Norwood Depot (14 Hill St)—are close to dense residential blocks, therefore addresses near either station likely to require a proper staging plan, rather than impromptu curb parking.

Norwood does not have a moving-truck permit or curb-reservation permission like Boston. For activity taking place in the public right-of-way (street, sidewalk, or town-controlled area), the correct approach is through the Norwood Department of Public Works for right-of-way issues and, when relevant, the Select Board’s miscellaneous permits process for use of town ways. The main concern locally is the town’s nighttime parking ban. Section 10 of the Town of Norwood Traffic Rules & Regulations states that no vehicle may be parked for longer than two hours between 12:00 a.m. and six a.m. on any roadway or in any town-owned lot from November 15 to April 1 (Norwood’s winter parking prohibition). Local police also implements the 2-hour rule overnight outside that window. In addition, commercial trucks exceeding 2.5 tons are not allowed to park on streets designated for residential use for more than one hour between midnight and 8:00 a.m. unless they are actually delivering something. For early morning or late evening Norwood moves—and any move during the Nov 15–Apr 1 window—we plan staging so the truck is not ticketed or towed.

Here Norwood's blend is important. South Norwood features older 2–4 unit “flats” (the historical area Norwood Historical Society documents as established before 1918), frequently with common front steps and tight interior turns. In the Route 1 South corridor and Windsor Gardens, you’ll find larger apartment developments where COIs and loading-zone laws are the norm. Endicott Woods and other townhouse developments usually have HOA regulations for driveway use, truck idling and where a moving truck can stage. Demand peaks during end of month lease turns, notably May through Sept. Winter movements are possible, but two factors affect the plan: recorded snowfall in the Boston area (the National Weather Service Boston office records seasonal totals substantially over the 30-year normal in some years) and Norwood’s Nov 15–Apr 1 parking restriction. The Norwood DPW also points out that vehicles blocking snow plowing can be towed under Bylaw Article XII Section 30.
